Apparently just mentioning "libera.chat" in a channel's topic is enough for the new Freenode admins to join, change the topic, and remove your operator status.

Just published the May update to the Snikket server software. This includes a few security fixes from Prosody, so upgrade soon!

It also now allows you to manage user roles (e.g. make someone else an admin of the server) via the web interface.
